Working With You To Make The Best Choice

Committed Representation For Your Divorce Needs

Navigating through the challenges of a divorce is rarely easy, especially when there are so many methods of ending your marriage. When you are trying to make decisions that protect your best interests, it pays to have a skilled divorce lawyer at your side.

When Michigan attorney Randall (Randy) L. Velzen looks at his practice, it’s clear to him that his most productive and satisfying years were when he was a sole practitioner. He has been with strong firms and good partners, but his experience shows that being the captain of his own ship has worked out the best.

Settling Your Divorce On Your Terms

Randy uses his extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to help people try to avoid the often destructive process of traditional divorce. Through ADR, spouses can work together to reach agreeable terms to their divorce instead of leaving themselves at the mercy of the court.

He structured his firm to grow that area of his practice. He continues to represent people in a traditional litigated divorce, too, though he focuses more on collaboration, mediation and arbitration. Randy almost exclusively practices in the area of family law (including estate planning). He helps his clients through the often complicated divorce process and is highly experienced with such matters as custody issues, property divisions and support.

Randy was one of the first attorneys in western Michigan to complete collaborative law training through the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan (CPIM), which is the state organization for collaborative professionals. Randy received his bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
